Description :

A very fine marble-topped commode, with elegant marquetry-fronted drawers and bronze ormolu mounts. This handsome little chest of drawers dates from the Louis XVI Period, late 18th century, and features exquisite marquetry inlays in a recurring 'cube' style, within delicate fillet frames of diagonal cut light and dark wood. Ribbon-garland escutcheons adorn the centre-fronts of the drawers, with a key supplied for locking. The top is of sumptuously coloured 'Rojo' red marble, with eye-catching white veining, while the legs are square-cut and delicately tapering down to bronze Ormolu mounted feet.
