A very pretty pink opaline Sèvres-style vase, hand-blown and embellished throughout with gilt bands and accents. The tall and gently flaring neck has been beautifully hand-painted with a pastoral scene of figures in a rural landscape, its warm colour scheme of rich greens and browns contrasting beautifully with the vivid pink of the glass. The base of the vase is wider than the top, echoing the shape of a goblet and providing excellent stability as well as a capacious water reservoir for the display of flowers. The vase dates from the 19th century.
