An ornate pair of exquisitely chiselled gilt bronze wall sconces, each one featuring two leaf scrolling branches flanking an angelic flute-playing cherub. Ornate drip pans and nozzles top the two arms, which converge neatly on to an acanthus-clad base with delicate floral scrolls on either side. From here, spiralling downwards, are two stylised entwining serpents, adding balance and stability to the design. Attibuted to the renowned bronze lighting firm 'Maison Charles' founded in 1908 by craftsman Ernest Charles, these Louis XVI-style sconces are typical of their fanciful and nature-inspired designs. In good, antique condition, with some small imperfections in places.
