Description :

This exquisite Limoges porcelain box is a sophisticated creation by Philippe Deshoulieres, designed by Marie-France Lecherbonnier, and richly inspired by La Dame à la Licorne, the most celebrated of all medieval Aubusson tapestry cycles. Rarely does contemporary Limoges porcelain capture the lyrical, dream-like beauty of the original 15th-century masterpiece with such grace and refinement.

The octagonal box reveals a sumptuous décor of hand-detailed florals in the purest millefleurs tradition—delicate blossoms in sapphire blue, soft coral, and warm gold gracefully sweeping across a luminous ivory ground. At the center of the lid, a majestic unicorn emerges as the focal symbol, rendered in soft golden tones with an ethereal presence that evokes the allegorical power of the original tapestry.

The sides of the box continue this enchanting narrative with tender scenes of reclining rabbits framed by stylised foliage, creating an unbroken poetic tableau. A finely executed border of geometric rosettes elevates the composition and adds a touch of regal structure.

Marked Porcelaine de Limoges – France, the piece exemplifies the refinement, translucency, and precision that have made Limoges porcelain world-renowned. Both decorative and collectible, this box is an elegant homage to French medieval art—perfect for a curated interior or as a meaningful gift for connoisseurs of exceptional porcelain.
