Description :

An exquisite pair of Chinese antique cloisonné enamel 'millefleur' baluster-form brass vases, meticulously decorated in a traditional design of flowers, birds and butterflies, and featuring a gleaming golden brass enamel interior. The ancient art of cloisonné is the technique of creating intricate designs on metal vessels by applying coloured glass paste into shaped enclosures, or 'cloisons', formed from copper or bronze wires, which have been shaped into the desired pattern and pasted or soldered onto the metal body. These tall and extremely elegant vases are an extremely fine example of the technique, and the detail on them is absolutely mesmerising.
