Description :
Oil on canvas : A vibrant street scene of “Paris, Montmartre”, by Marseille artist Louis Audibert (1880-1983).
Depicting a typical Parisian street, lined with residential apartments above colourful shopfronts, the gleaming white domes of the Sacré Coeur are clearly visible in the distance. The work is in its good original condition, and is offered in a simple but stylish gilt frame. It is signed lower right. The son of an industrial soap maker from Marseille, Audibert studied at the School of Fine Arts in Paris, a city where he stayed from 1906 to 1912, and where he discovered the Impressionist painters.
His paintings are on display today in galleries in Cassis and Marseille.
