This delightful Longchamp majolica asparagus server is a classic example of the whimsical and highly collectible French earthenware produced in the late 19th century. Crafted in richly glazed terre de fer, the set features its original two-piece composition: a curved asparagus cradle resting on its matching drip plate. Both elements display the signature Longchamp palette of soft cream, vivid turquoise, and naturalistic green, with the asparagus tips highlighted in deep violet tones. The sculpted relief work is particularly charming, capturing the texture of bundled asparagus stalks tied with pink cords, while the plate features leafy, swirling motifs typical of Longchamp’s majolica designs.

The server is both decorative and functional, originally intended to serve freshly cooked asparagus while allowing excess water to drain through the perforated cradle. Today, it makes a striking centerpiece, a unique serving accessory, or a collectible display piece for majolica lovers. The glaze shows beautiful age-appropriate crazing, and one small chip is visible on a stalk end, consistent with antique use. Overall, the set remains in very good condition for its age, with its vibrant colors and sculptural presence wonderfully preserved.

A charming, unmistakably French majolica piece that adds character and color to any table or collection.
