A stylish Paris porcelain and parcel gilt openwork compote, or fruit basket, made in two pieces joined with its original brass bolt. The basket is oval in form, and stands on a solid rectangular base, highlighted with generous gilded bands. Dating from the 19th century, this elegant Empire style basket would make a fabulous and eye-catching centrepiece for a dinner table.
