This stunning egg-shaped crystal paperweight is made by the legendary French glassmaker 'Daum', and features an incredibly intricate five-petalled violet-blue flower at its centre. Known as a 'sulphide' paperweight, this technique of encasing cast objects such as animals or flowers, inside a crystal was first developed in the mid 18th century. This beautiful example dates from around the 1970s, and features an array of controlled bubbles at its base, which sparkle and catch the light in a most attractive way. The Daum signature appears on the base.
